Every piece in Matter is a line, not a product. It begins as a form with no purpose, and each generation earns a function through a single act — one removal, one addition — that the form has to survive intact.
Nothing is redesigned and nothing is replaced. Earlier generations are not drafts to be discarded; they remain inside the object, still available, still correct. Open any piece and the whole lineage is there to be walked.
